 About Lori >> Biography

For more than 10 years Lori Incledon has been involved in personal training, sport-specific conditioning, physical therapy, athletic training, and injury prevention. Whether your goals are to rehabilitate an injury, injury prevention, or general strength and conditioning, Lori is a valuable resource. She specializes in women’s personal training, placing an emphasis on strength training.

Her academic background includes an AA in Liberal Arts and a BS in Public Relations from the University of Florida http://www.ufl.edu, an AS in Physical Therapist Assistant from Broward Community College http://www.broward.edu, a National Athletic Trainers’ Association Certification http://www.nata.org in Athletic Training, and a National Strength and Conditioning Association Certification http://www.nsca-lift.org in Strength and Conditioning and Personal Training. Additionally she is licensed in the states of Florida and Arizona as a physical therapist assistant and as an athletic trainer. She currently serves as Vice-President of Human Performance Specialists, Inc. where she works with her husband Thomas http://www.thomasincledon.com.

From early on, Lori had a desire to write, to help people, and to fuel her passion for watching sports. She started her career in the public relations field writing newsletters and designing promotional material for a variety of companies and causes. She moved from Florida to New York City to further her career in public relations and began studying sports marketing at NYU. Through her many visits to the Women’s Sports Foundation http://www.womenssportsfoundation.org/cgi-bin/iowa, she decided to change careers, move back to Florida, and study physical therapy.

Having previously taken pre-med courses at the University of Florida, Lori was accepted into Broward Community College’s physical therapist assistant program as soon as she applied. The PTA program allowed her to maintain a part-time job at HEALTHSOUTH Physical Therapy and Sports Rehabilitation Center as a receptionist, then as a pool aide. Originally Lori’s plans were to finish PTA school, work in the field, and then go back to PT school. But through working at HEALTHSOUTH, she realized that athletic training was her passion. So she found mentors and received her NATA certification through internship after spending thousands of hours on the football fields, basketball courts, and baseball fields of many South Florida high schools. Her certification in strength and conditioning and personal training from the NSCA was a natural supplement to her skills.

Lori became the head athletic trainer for St. Thomas Aquinas High School, where she assisted in sending a majority of their top-ranked sports teams to winning state competitions. She developed a student athletic trainer program at the same school and instituted a Sports Medicine academic class. She initiated a sports medicine lecture series for Police Athletic League football, soccer, and cheerleading coaches. Lori then became the head strength and conditioning specialist at Cypress Bay High School where she initiated the sports and conditioning program for the then-new Cypress Bay.

Lori moved to Arizona with her then-fiancé and now husband Thomas to further their consulting business, Human Performance Specialists, and to write Strength Training for Women .

She is an active lecturer and rehabilitation consultant to high school, collegiate, and professional sports teams. Her consultations with amateur and professional athletes, as well as everyday health-conscious people, keep her striving for new information and techniques. Her freelance articles appear in Muscle & Fitness, Muscle & Fitness Hers, Men’s Fitness and numerous Internet sites.

Lori enjoys weight training for health and fitness, along with any other challenging athletic activities. She is constantly in search of new exercises and training programs that are beneficial to a variety of populations.
